OBJECTIVES
-
To design a hardware of a Bicycle Odometer which display the mileage/distance
travelled by the bicycle using Proteus
software.
-
To develop, set up, analyse and assemble working prototype hardware of the
Bicycle Odometer.
2.0
INTRODUCTION
Odometer
is a device which measure the distance travelled by a person on a vehicle.
Usually odometers measure distances in unit of kilometer (KM) or miles. The
purpose of measuring the distance travelled or the mileage vary upon the
individual himself/herself. As for this Bicycle Odometer, it is to measure the
distance travelled by a cyclist, basically from one point to another. By this device, the user can record the real-time
data of the cycling distance. With the help of the system, the user can develop
a scientific exercise plan, according to own actual situation.
3.0
BLOCK DIAGRAM OF THE SYSTEM
There is (TWO) switch button use in
this mini project which is 1 for the ON/OFF and the other one is for RESET
button. When the switch is ON, the LCD display will lights up and display
recent recorded distance (KM). The sensor will then detect whether the bicycle
is moving or not. If the bicycle is moving, the odometer will record the
distance and if bicycle stop, the sensor will pause recording the distance. If
the reset button is press, the recorded
distance will set back to 0 and if not, the record will save the distance.

6.0 CONCLUSION
This project
proposal is being done by designing the hardware and the codes. The codes is
based on microcontroller based system and being written using software Keil
.
The circuit of the Bicycle Odometer is being design by using software Proteus.
The codes will be simulate and determine its functioning. If there is an error the codes will be
written back and simulate again until it successful. Finally, the real hardware
is being design.
